Term: Medial preoptic area
Definition: As defined here, the MPO is the relatively cell sparse region between the lateral preoptic area and bed nuclei of the stria terminalis, and the medial preoptic nucleus. In addition to the latter, the MPO surrounds or borders several more distinct cell groups, including the MEPO, ADP, AVP, PS, and PD.
