Term: Reticular nucleus of the thalamus
Definition: Gurdjian 1927; Spreafico et al. 1991. The reticular nucleus is traditionally assigned to the ventral thalamus, along with the very different zona incerta. We have placed it here in the hierarchy because it projects almost exclusively back to the dorsal thalamus.
