Term: descending neuron, sympathetic system
Definition: At least 1000 neurons in the paraventricular nucleus project to the spinal cord, and they are concentrated primarily in the dorsal, lateral, and ventral medial parvocellular parts of the nucleus (Hosoya, 1980; Swanson and Kuypers 1980a; Schwanzel-Fukuda).
