Term: sensory-motor neuron
Definition: Sensory-motor neurons form the small division of neurons that transduces sensory stimuli from the environment or other parts of the body, and transmits them via an axon directly to a non-neuronal effector cell; they combine the features of a sensory neuron and a motor neuron (Swanson, 2003, Fig. 2.5; Swanson and Bota, 2007, Fig. 1).
