Description of part

The anterior part is located dorsal to the crossing fibers of the anterior commissure, lying within the course of the dorsal component of the stria terminal is as it traverses the dorsal and rostral aspects of the commissure (Fig. 15B). It borders the ventral lateral septum rostromedially and reaches the rostrodorsal border of the ventral part of the medial bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BSTMV) ventrocaudally. Dorsally, the stria terminalis separates the anterior part of the medial bed nucleus from the posterior part of the medial, whereas ventrally the anterior and posterior parts of the medial bed nucleus are separated by the commissural component of the stria terminalis. Medially, the cells of the anterior part of the medial bed nucleus are medium sized and irregular in shape and are dispersed among the fibers of the stria terminalis. More laterally, the cells are smaller and more tightly packed.
