This region lies dorsal to the anterior commissure and is contiguous with the anteroventral area rostra1 and caudal to the commissure. Most of the cells in the anterodorsal area are small and round to oval in shape, although a few cells with different characteristics are intermingled among this major type (Figs. 9, 10). The density of cells in this area is generally quite high, although at more caudal and dorsal levels it decreases somewhat because of the ventrally coursing fibers of the stria terminalis (Fig. 3)
