Bed Nucleus Of The Stria Terminalis Anterolateral Area
abbreviation: BTal
Abbreviation
BTal
Species
Rat
Description of part
This area consists of a large undifferentiated region with three relatively distinct nuclei embedded within it. The cells in the undifferentiated region are generally small, and round to oval anteriorly, but many larger cells with varying shapes begin to appear caudally (especially ventrally). Rostrally, the anterolateral area borders the anterodorsal area, from which it can be distinguished by the more uniform appearance of its cells (Fig. 10). Caudally, the anterolateral area abuts the posterior division, while ventrally it merges without a clear boundary with the anteroventral area.
