Description of part

This nucleus appears at levels of the anteroventral area of the BST where the dorsomedial nucleus begins to disappear. It lies ventral to the anterior commissure, lateral to the dorsomedial nucleus, and dorsomedial to the magnocellular nucleus. Its cells are medium-sized, and many are multipolar or triangular in shape, with their long axes arranged dorsomedially to ventrolaterally (Figs. 24, 26).
