Description of part
This is a narrow vertical strip of cells adjacent to the internal capsule, ventral to midrostrocaudal levels of the oval nucleus. In fact, the dorsal part of the juxtacapsular nucleus is wedged between the internal capsule and the oval nucleus. The cells in this nucleus are much like those in the oval nucleus, although they tend to be somewhat smaller (Figs. 11, 12). This cell group was first named by McDonald ('83).
