Bed Nucleus Of The Stria Terminalis Subarea 2
abbreviation: BST2
Abbreviation
BST2
Species
Rat
Description of part
BST2 (T1-T5, S1-S3, H6) adjoins rostrally the striatal region. It borders on the LSN medially and on the GP and the internal capsule laterally. The cell bodies of BST2 resemble the small to medium-sized neurons of the CPU. Within BST2 they are evenly distributed and rather densely crowded. The so-called juxtacapsular subdivision of the BST as described by McDonald ('83) is considered here to be part of the BST2. Within the BST2 considerable numbers of neurotensin- (Jennes et al., '82), GABA-T- (Nagai et al., W), dynorphin B-, dynorphin A-, met-enkephalin- (Fallon and Leslie, '86), galanin-(Melander et al., '86), and corticotrophin- releasing factor-like (Sakanaka et al., '87) irnmunoreactive perikarya have been demonstrated...
