The infralimbic area (figs. 3B, 4A) of this account appears to be equivalent to the area so-named by Rose and Woolsey (’48a1, and corresponds to area 25 of Brodmann (’09), and, at least in part, to the “area infraradiata ventralis anterior (IRaalpha)” of M. Rose (’27). The chief characteristics of the infralimbic area are its relatively indistinct lamination and the relative unevenness of the outer border of layer 11, such that cells extend for varying distances into layer I.
