Parabrachial Nucleus Ventral Lateral Nucleus

abbreviation: PBv

Abbreviation

Species

Rat

Description of part

The ventral lateral nucleus consists of a band of cells along the dorsal surface of the SCP in the trough between its media; and lateral enlargements (see Figs. 1B, 2A,B, 3B). Rostrally, the cells aggregate along the dorsal surface of the SCP about 200 micrometers caudal to the rostral extreme of PB. They maintain this position throughout the extent of PB, up to about 300 micrometers rostral to the caudal extreme of PB, at which point the first large neurons of the superior vestibular nucleus appear.
