Description of part

The continuation of the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis, accompanying its preoptic component, is a well-defined nuclear mass (figs. 1, 12, 13). It is made up of thickly placed small cells staining very deeply in our preparations. It extends downward and medially from the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis and somewhat lateral to the midline turns caudad and becomes lost in the undifferentiated gray mass in that region. It undoubtedly receives fibers from the stria terminalis and sends its axons farther caudad toward the hypothalamic complex, particularly the medial group of nuclei therein. Collator note: the abbreviation of this nucleus was adapted by the collator following the style of the author.
