Area 7a, as described by Andersen et al. (1985), occupies the posterior part ofthe inferior parietal lobule and extends only a short distance into the intraparietal sulcus. Collator note: See Table 1, pages 6-7. VIP is defined in Blatt, Andersen & Stoner, 1990, Maunsell & Van Essen, 1983 and Ungerleider & Desimone, 1986 with significant uncertainties in both identification and border assignments (qualitative assessment of authors).
