Their group e is characterized as a horizontally oriented, large-celled subgroup that replaces group c caudally. This description fits well with our magnocellular nucleus, which appears in the caudal part of the anteroventral area and does have a generally transverse orientation. Caudal regions of the anteroventral area are not, however, uniformly magnocellular, and it involves a wider area than their group e would include. |
