Based on cytoarchitecture, the posterior BSTM can be subidivided into three cell columns: an anteriomedial small celled column, a medial medium celled column, and lateral large celled column. The medium celled column is composed by loosely arranged more lightly stained medium sized spindle and angular shaped cells. Throughout most of its course, this column lies just rostral and adjoining stria medullaris....
