Description of part
The medial division is the larger of the two and is composed of small to medium-sized, tightly-packed cells that are rounded and deeply-staining. It appears as a broad, sigmoidal band of cells extending from the dorsal aspect of the anterior hypothalamic area (fig. 1D) to the lateral septa1 nucleus (fig. 1B). In addition, a few cells of this division extend around the anterior aspect of the anterior commissure embedded within the precommissural component of the stria terminalis.
