...the posterior division forms the greater part of the nucleus, and is made up of slightly larger, more palely-staining cells. The posterior division is especially prominent near the caudal pole of the amygdaloid complex, where it is separated from the basolateral nucleus ventrally, by a band of fibers extending medially from the external capsule. Collator note: this division, albeit explicitly defined in text is not mapped on figures, nor used in mapping of hodological experiments. We add it to the Krettek-1978 nomenclature for completitude.
