Table C is an expanded version of Table A.c.w (Central nervous system white matter). All craniospinal nerves have at least a short segment within the CNS. Fiber systems within the CNS are difficult to see clearly in Nissl-stained material like that used for the Atlas (although darkfield illumination helps considerably). For photomicrographs of fiber-stained sections illustrating most of the structures listed here see Kruger et al. 1995.
