This is a relatively distinct cell sparse region at the rostrocaudal level of the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus (personal observations). The highest concentration of MCH and hypocretin/orexin neurons appear to be centered here (see Broberger et al. 1998; Brischoux et al. 2001).
